Here I will describle the rank flags of Italy's Royal Air
Force (Regia Aeronautica) during the Fascist era:
Air Force - pale blue flags with red emblems arranged diagonally
unless otherwise stated. All stars were five-pointed.
Air Force Chief of Staff: stars according to rank inside a red
inner border and a pale blue outer border.
Air Marshal: four stars
General of an Air Army: three stars
General of an Air Squadron: a crown between two stars
General of an Air Division: two stars
General of an Air Brigade: one star
Wing (Stormo) Commander: red horizontal strip overall
Group Commander: swallow-tailed, red horizontal strip overall
Squadron Commander: triangular, red horizontal strip overall

The specifications for the flags are as follows:
- overall proportion, 220:330 (2:3)
- width of the red border, 11; distance to the border of the
flag, 22
- wingspan of the eagle, 165; height of the eagle, 55
- width of the crown, 55; distance between the top of the crown
(including the cross) and the top of the eagle, 44.
